Twenty-five years after escaping the devastation caused by the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, Tho Nguon receives a message that gives him new hope of finding his youngest brother, who he left in the care of an orphanage before fleeing.
Tho decides to return home for the first time – to the place where his family was destroyed, his adolescence shattered.
But this journey back in time, walking the painful footsteps of the past, gathers deeper meaning along the way through a series of encounters.
Reconnecting with the tragedy of an entire population, Tho gradually finds his place in a world where any chance of reconciliation seemed forever lost.
